(Miami Gardens, FL) – Senior citizens attending Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan’s annual Senior Valentine’s Day Dance may have forgotten their age when classic tunes from Motown Records blared from the speakers. The elderly residents, decked in the traditional red and white, took to the dance floor doing the Twist, Hully Gully and other dances from their teen era.

“This is the one night that I hoped the seniors in District 1 could kick back and enjoy great music, a wonderful atmosphere and a hearty meal,” said Commissioner Jordan. "Through various activities, I try to accommodate everyone living in my District through the Hispanic Heritage Festival, Black Heritage Festival, Brain Bowl, and Music in the Park events to name a few."

Sponsors for this year's Seniors Dance included AVE, Calder Race Course and Casino, The Tax Drz., Opa-locka Hialeah Flea Market, Florida Power & Light, Plaza Health Hebrew Homes Network, World Waste Recycling and the Office of Commissioner Barbara Jordan.; EAC Consulting, Inc.; EBS Engineering, Inc.; D. Stephenson Construction; H&R Block; Orion Jet Center; Overnight Success; Santana T. Moss; Black Affairs Advisory Board; City of Miami Gardens; and the Office of Commissioner Barbara Jordan.
