Elderly Get Their Groove On at Commissioner Jordan’s Annual Valentine’s Day Dance for Seniors

(MIAMI GARDENS, FL) – Age was not a factor at Commissioner Barbara Jordan’s Valentine’s Day Dance for Seniors, as 400 older residents took to the dance floor moving to the sounds of the local group Pocket Change. The Cupid Shuffle, Electric Slide and Wobble were fan favorites during Commissioner Jordan’s annual celebration of love.

“This year, attendees did not hold anything back,” said Commissioner Jordan. “No one loves to dance as much as me, but I found myself trying to keep pace with several seniors who forget their age, but will remember it in the morning,” she joked.

According to Jordan, seniors feasted on baked chicken, yellow rice, green beans and lemon cake. The event was held in the gymnasium at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex in Miami Gardens.

The 2015 Valentine’s Day Dance for Seniors was sponsored by Cigna HealthCare, El Dorado Furniture, Bilzin Sumberg, Calder Race Course, Tax Dr., FP&L, World Waste Recycling, and Opa-locka-Hialeah Flea Market.
