MIAMI GARDENS – Hundreds of residents turned out to attend Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara Jordan’s annual Valentine’s Day Dance for Senior at the gymnasium at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex in Miami Gardens. Sporting snazzy red-and-white attire, they danced the night away to old-school tunes performed by the local group Pocket Change during Commissioner Jordan’s annual celebration of love.
The Cupid Shuffle, Electric Slide and Wobble were fan favorites at the festive night of nostalgia.
“These seniors were having a great time on the dance floor, and I was out there just trying to keep up with them,” Commissioner Jordan said.
Along with the dancing, attendees feasted on baked chicken, yellow rice, green beans and lemon cake. The event also featured a raffle with gifts totaling over $1,000.
The 2016 Valentine’s Day Dance for Seniors was sponsored by Bilzin Sumberg, El Dorado Furniture, AVE, FP&L, TaxDrz.com, Sedano’s, World Waste Recycling and Calder Race Course & Casino. Raffles were sponsored by Arline’s Restaurant & Seafood, Hair Xscape, Publix Supermarket and Teeth R US. Greater Miami Service Corps and the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.
