Ribbon cutting of new YET Center at Gwen Cherry Park

Residents of District 2 will celebrate the opening of the newly renovated NFL Youth Education Town (YET) Miami at Gwen Cherry Park on July 24, 2012, at 10 a.m. The park is located at 7090 N.W. 22 Avenue.

Park visitors can come out and enjoy modernized classrooms and media rooms thanks to the $1 million project. The 5,000 square foot expansion of the NFL YET Building also features new administrative offices. The new wing is located at the southwest corner of the building adjacent to the gymnasium.

This project marks the first of many improvements that Commissioner Monestime is working to make at Gwen Cherry Park and other parks in District 2.  Commissioner Monestime is currently working to secure funding to improve lighting at Gwen Cherry Park.

"These improvements will allow more of our children to learn and play at Gwen Cherry Park," said Commissioner Jean Monestime. "We can never underestimate the value of a park and its ability to improve the quality of life for our residents."

Funding for the NFL YET Building renovation was provided by NFL Charities and the Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond Program of Miami-Dade County.
