Commissioner Jean Monestime hosts free Community Festival at Gwen Cherry Park on Saturday, August 10
Event will include book bag giveaway, jazz concert and movie night
MIAMI, FL – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jean Monestime, District 2, invites residents in his district to a free Community Festival at Gwen Cherry Park, 7090 NW 22nd Avenue, on Saturday, August 10, 2013 from noon to 9 p.m. The event will feature a free book bag giveaway for students in District 2.
The Community Festival will feature free health screenings for residents, back-to-school physicals for students, line dancing, a Movie Night for children and a Jazz Concert for adults. Free snow cones and popcorn will be provided. During the book bag giveaway, book bags will be available for District 2 residents only, while supplies last. Parents must accompany their children to receive a book bag. Parents must also bring identification to verify residency in District 2.
A free legal clinic will be hosted by the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women’s Lawyers Association immediately before the book bag giveaway. The legal clinic will cover landlord/tenant, foreclosure and tax issues. The State Attorney’s Office will provide information on expungement, probate, divorce and child support. Attendees can enter to win gift cards and an electronic notebook.
The Community Festival is being held in collaboration with Urban Strategies, Miami-Dade Parks, and the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association.
