Commissioners to proclaim day in honor of team

MIAMI, FL – The Miami Central Senior High School football team, three-time state champions, will be honored in a special presentation at the County Commission meeting on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 8:30 a.m.  District 2 Commissioner Jean Monestime will lead the Board of County Commissioners in proclaiming January 22nd as “Miami Central Senior High School Football Team Day.”

Under the guidance of Coach Roland Smith, the team won the Class 6A Football State Championship in December 2013 by defeating Seffner Armwood High School. This is the third football state championship the team has won in four years.

“Becoming a three-time state champion is a tremendous accomplishment, and it’s a tribute to the hard work and remarkable spirit of this fantastic team,” Commissioner Monestime said. “These student athletes are an inspiration to the community, and I encourage them to continue achieving great things both on the field and in the classroom.”
