(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Commissioner Jean Monestime will be celebrating Earth Day by cleaning up several areas and planting trees in his district. The commissioner and volunteers will be visiting Gratigny Plateau Park, 885 NW 117 Street, on Friday, April 22, 2011 from 7 a.m. to noon and starting the clean up there.
In addition, County Commissioner Monestime will make cleaning up Lakeview Elementary, located at 1290 NW 115 Street, a priority. At 9:30 a.m., the commissioner will lead a group of volunteers in picking up trash around the school grounds. Two vacant lots in the vicinity of the school will also be cleaned, and contractors for Public Works will be planting trees on NW 10th and 12th Avenues from NW 103rd to 119th Streets throughout the morning.
