Statement from Commissioner Jean Monestime on 2nd anniversary of Haiti earthquake

“On this, the second anniversary of the devastating Haiti Earthquake, we remember the thousands who perished, the many left permanently scared and injured, the multitude left homeless and the children made orphans.  I would like to honor the first responders who, in the immediate aftermath, risked life and limb in their feverish search for victims trapped in ruins.  Today, more than 500,000 survivors are still living under tents in public squares and on vacant lots.  May we keep them in our daily thoughts and may they find continuous and replenishing strength to go forth in their daily struggles.”
