Commissioner Jean Monestime joins Rev. Jesse L. Jackson to increase voter participation

Voters in Miami-Dade County garnered national attention on Sunday, April 29, 2012, when national Civil Rights Activist Rev. Jesse L. Jackson joined Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jean Monestime at a voter motivation and mobilization rally at 93rd Street Community Baptist Church, 2330 N.W. 93rd Street, Miami, FL.

At the rally, Miami-Dade County residents were urged to become active participants in good government by registering to vote and making their voices heard at the ballot box during local and national elections.  Hundreds of residents and community activists turned out to the rally.

“I commend Rev. Jesse Jackson for bringing this very important message to Miami-Dade County.  It shows the importance of Florida and Miami-Dade County in the national dialogue,” said Commissioner Monestime.   “If we want change, we have to participate in the process.  We must vote. We must make our voices heard.”
