MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jean Monestime, District 2, joined Miami Heat players and NBA Commissioner David Stern to open the nation’s newest NBA Learn & Play Center at the Joe Celestin Center, 1525 NW 135 Street, North Miami, on Friday, June 7, 2013.

The new Learn & Play Center features a library, computer lab and recreation room for children. The NBA also remodeled the Joe Celestin Center with Miami Heat themed murals and signage. The NBA donated the Learn & Play Center as part of the NBA Finals.

Commissioner Monestime joined Miami Heat players Udonis Haslem, Shane Battier, Norris Cole, Mario Chalmers and Rashard Lewis at the Learn & Play Center dedication ceremony.

“This Learn & Play Center will expand the access of state-of-the-art educational and athletic facilities to more children in District 2,” said Commissioner Monestime. “On behalf of the children, families and residents of District 2, I say ‘Thank You’ to the entire Miami Heat family and the NBA for this wonderful Learn & Play Center.”
