More than 2,000 families participate in Commissioner Jean Monestime's Thanksgiving Giveaway

Events Were Held at Arcola Lakes Park and Oak Grove Park

Miami-Dade - The tradition of giving thanks and celebrating family continued in District 2 this year, as more than 2,000 families participated in Commissioner Jean Monestime’s annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway on Sunday, November 17, 2013.

Commissioner Monestime distributed 2,200 turkeys to families in District 2 at Arcola Lakes Park and Oak Grove Park for the Thanksgiving holiday.

“Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful for what we have while helping those who need a little more,” said Commissioner Monestime. “We do this every year because we want to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday while coming together in a spirit of community.”

Commissioner Monestime thanked the volunteers and various community-based agencies who participated in the food distribution efforts. 

“I’m personally very grateful for the selfless dedication of our community partners and volunteers,” Commissioner Monestime said.
