MIAMI, FL – The “Mighty Rockets,” Miami Central Senior High School’s football team, were honored at the Jan. 22 County Commission meeting for earning their third state championship in four years.
Commissioner Jean Monestime, District 2, led Commissioners in proclaiming January 22, 2014 as “Miami Central Senior High School Football Team Day.”
“Your potential is limitless, and we are very proud of your accomplishment,” Commissioner Jean Monestime told the student athletes as they accepted the proclamation along with the school’s Principal Mr. Gregory Bethune and team’s coaching staff.
Led by Coach Roland Smith, the team again captured the Class 6A Football State Championship by resoundingly defeating Seffner Armwood High School last month in Orlando.
“Congratulations to the Miami Central Rockets!” Commissioner Monestime said.
