(MIAMI-DADE, FL) – Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Jean Monestime honored Sybrina Fulton at the March 17 Board of County Commissioners meeting as part of Women’s History Month in recognition of her work to advocate for families impacted by violence and raise awareness about racial profiling in the wake of the death of her son Trayvon Martin.

Chairman Monestime presented Ms. Fulton, who was joined by her family, with a proclamation declaring March 17, 2015 as “Sybrina Fulton Day.”

Ms. Fulton, along with Trayvon Martin’s father Tracy Martin, founded the not-for-profit Trayvon Martin Foundation in March 2012.
