(MIAMI-DADE, FL) – Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Jean Monestime hosted a Leadership Breakfast for District 2 homeowner association presidents on June 4 at the Arcola Lakes Library.

In addition to discussing issues affecting their communities, the homeowner association presidents listened as Chairman Monestime updated them about important projects and development in District 2 including the proposed construction of a Jackson Memorial Urgent Care Center slated to be built in North Miami and the $2.9 million in funding he recently secured for the planned Father Gerard Jean-Juste Community Center at Oak Grove Park.

Chairman Monestime also spoke about Jackson North Medical Center’s dedication of its surgical center in honor of Sandy A. Sears. Last year, Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan and the Chairman were the prime sponsors of a resolution to rename the Jackson North Medical Center Intensive Care Unit Wing after Sears, who had a distinguished 29-year career at Jackson Health System and retired in 2014 after leading Jackson North for more than seven years. “No one is more deserving of this recognition than her,” said Chairman Monestime.
