MIAMI-DADE – The tradition of giving thanks and celebrating with the family continued in District 2 this year, as more than 3,000 families participated in Chairman Jean Monestime’s annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaway on Nov. 20.

Chairman Monestime distributed more than 3,000 turkeys to District 2 families at Arcola Lakes Park Senior Center and Oak Grove Park so that they too can enjoy the traditional Thanksgiving holiday.

“To me, this is so much more than giving away turkeys; this is about ensuring that every family has the opportunity to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner,” said Chairman Monestime. “Thanksgiving is a time to count our blessings and come together as a community in a spirit of thanks.”

Chairman Monestime thanks our partners, volunteers and various community-based agencies that participated in the food distribution efforts.

“None of this would be possible without the selfless dedication of our community partners and volunteers,” Commissioner Monestime added.

At Oak Grove Park, more than 2,000 District 2 residents received turkeys from Chairman Monestime.
