(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson was a guest of honor at the grand opening of the new Borinquen Behavioral Health Resource Center in District 3 on Wednesday, August 13. The new center will provide a myriad of services, including psychiatric treatment, adult and adolescent psychological treatment, substance abuse counseling, outreach prevention program, high risk prevention counseling, HIV/AIDS counseling and testing, prevention education, case management, and brief intervention counseling.
“The Borinquen Health Care Center has done wonderful work in Miami-Dade County, offering affordable health care to the poor, and those with little to no insurance,” said Commissioner Edmonson. “The new behavioral health center will be a great addition to help residents cope with mental health problems which are often overlooked and neglected and can affect the physical health of the patient.”
The Borinquen Health Care Center, a community-based organization, provides primary health care to patients in Miami-Dade who are poor, noninsured, underinsured, HIV-positive, and use Medicaid and Medicare.
