Vice Chairwoman Edmonson participates in Miami-Dade’s Sixth Annual Haitian Independence Month Celebration

Vice Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson took part in Mayor Carlos Alvarez’s Sixth Annual Haitian Independence Month Celebration at the Stephen P. Clark Center on January 12, 2011. The event was organized in collaboration with Ayiti History and Resources and Haitian American Emergency Relief Committee.

This year's ceremony fell on the anniversary of Haiti’s earthquake. Aside from a visual montage highlighting Haitian history, a special ceremony was held as a day of remembrance for the victims of last year’s earthquake.  Other attendees included, Dr. Michelle Dodar from the U.M. Global Institute/Project Medishare, Alonzo Mourning, Artist Carl Craig, and Calvin Hughes from WPLG Channel 10.
