Vice Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson (in white suit) and Paul Linder, CEO of Borinquen Medical Centers (to the right of former Congresswoman Carrie Meek) help the Congresswoman cut the ribbon of the new Carrie Meek Clinic located at Villa Patricia Towers, 7801 N.E. 2nd Avenue, in District 3's Little Haiti on Friday, April 29, 2011. They were joined by, left to right, former Congressman Kendrick Meek and Lucia Davis-Raiford, Director, Miami-Dade Office of Fair Employment Practices, both children of Carrie Meek; Eva Pérez, Borinquen Board Chair; Miami City Commissioner Richard Dunn; Margaret Laforest, Borinquen Board Secretary; City of Miami Mayor Tomás Regalado; Paul Velez, Chief Administrative Officer of Borinquen Medical Centers; Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jean Monestime; Congresswoman Corinne Brown from Jacksonville, Florida and North Miami Mayor Andre Pierre.

The opening also served as a celebration of Congresswoman Meek's 85th birthday. Vice Chairwoman Edmonson and Commissioner Monestime presented her with a vase and a birthday scroll to commemorate the occasion on behalf of the County Commission.

"It is fitting that this new clinic will be able to help thousands of residents, just as its namesake has during her time in Congress and now through her foundation," said Vice Chairwoman Edmonson. "Carrie Meek deserves this honor."
