Vice Chairwoman Edmonson celebrates graduating class of 2011 5000 Role Models of Excellence Program

Vice Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson offered congratulations and encouragement to the 2011 graduates of the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Program on Monday, May 9, 2011 at New Birth Baptist Church in Miami. Founded by Congresswoman Frederica Wilson in 1993, this organization works with at-risk young men, mentoring them so that they do not fall victim to drugs, crime and the criminal justice system. Vice Chairwoman Edmonson said, "Today, we present 75 of these young men with two-year, pre-paid scholarships to college or a university of their choice---a road, perhaps, that these young men never envisioned taking.  I urge them to take the road and walk it with a steady step. I ask that, even if they falter, they get up and keep walking because there is no future without education."
