Vice Chairwoman Edmonson participates in Jessie Trice Community Health Center inauguration
Vice Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson, right, helped President and CEO Annie Neasman, left, to inaugurate the new Jessie Trice Community Health Center (JTCHC), 5607 N.W. 27 Ave., Miami on December 15, 2011. The center was incorporated in 1967, as the Economic Opportunity Family Health Center and began providing services from a trailer in the Model City area of Miami-Dade County, as shown in the black and white photo. In 2008, the center was renamed after Jessie Trice, a visionary who is credited with establishing the center's strong foundation and pioneering its path in providing health care services. As one of the first comprehensive primary health care facilities of its kind in the country, JTCHC has evolved into a national leader in the provision of quality, comprehensive primary health care services. Today, JTCHC owns and operates 16 facilities, including clinics in 20 Miami-Dade County Public Schools that are dedicated to improving the lives of children and families. The non-profit center's target population is the uninsured and underinsured, 95% of which live at or below the federal poverty level.
