Vice Chairwoman Edmonson joins MLK Day events throughout Miami-Dade County

Vice Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson began observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday at the 19th annual 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Scholarship Breakfast held Monday, January 16, 2012 at Jungle Island in Miami.  The project's mission is to guide minority boys and prepare them for college and was founded by Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson.

Leaders from civic and governmental entities meet at the breakfast and then proceed to the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade now in its 35th year. Vice Chairwoman Edmonson and her staff rode the waves aboard a Miami-Dade County Police patrol boat and waved at the crowds gathered along N.W. 54 Street, from N.W. 10th to N.W. 32 Avenues in Miami. The parade ended at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, N.W. 62 Street and N.W. 32 Avenue, in Miami where vendors offered food, games, music and entertainment.

The Vice Chairwoman also attended the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade and festival held in Homestead and Florida City on January 14.
