Vice Chairwoman Edmonson honors Little Haiti dance company "Mad Dance"
Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez and Vice Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson declare June 2, 2012 “Mad Dance Miami Day” in a proclamation presented to its director, Cherilyn Morocco.
Vice Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson joined Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez on stage at the Little Haiti Cultural Center, 212 NE 59th Terrace, in Miami to present a proclamation to Cherilyn Morocco, whose Mad Dance Miami company performed during day-long festivities. Ms. Morocco has built the largest dance program in Little Haiti, expanding the program to include 120 children in less than eight months. Many of her students benefit from scholarships she provides and continue her legacy of teaching. The Mayor and the Vice Chairwoman also presented Certificates of Appreciation to Anita Darbonne, director of the Little Haiti Cultural Center, and to Marie Vickles, Visual Arts Coordinator at the center, which is located in the Vice Chairwoman's District 3.
