Vice Chairwoman Edmonson kicks off "Hunger Action Month"

Vice Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson kicked-off September as "Hunger Action Month" at the Sept. 6, 2012 meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. She invited representatives from Feeding South Florida and Curley's House of Style Hope Relief Food Bank to help her draw attention to the thousands of Miami-Dade County residents who go hungry every day and depend on food banks to survive.  From local donations, Curley's serves needy District 3 residents specifically and Feeding South Florida makes sure that food donations from stores, restaurants and food manufacturers get to more than 450 agencies in Miami-Dade, Palm Beach,, Broward and Monroe counties.

"Both of these organizations work hard to make sure that people in our community do not go hungry," Vice Chairwoman Edmonson said. "They both depend on contributions and volunteers. If you can assist, whether monetarily or through donations of food or giving of your time to help pack and distribute, I encourage all of you to support these wonderful organizations.  You can call Curley's at 305-759-9805 and Feeding South Florida at 954-518-1832."
