Vice Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson spoke fervently to the residents of Liberty Square at the International Youth Empowerment program held September 8, 2012 at the Liberty Square Community Center, 6304 N.W. 14 Ave., Miami.  Vice Chairwoman Edmonson urged the community to help the police stop the violence so prevalent in our community, especially among young people.

"It is a challenge to our youth and our community to keep our streets and neighborhoods free from senseless and sometimes tragic gun violence," Vice Chairwoman Edmonson said. "Gun violence has snuffed out the lives of our family members and our friends that found themselves in unfortunate situations. We can no longer turn the other way because it is right here on our door steps, in our homes and in our neighborhoods. Gun violence has found its way to places like our neighborhood parks and sports facilities. Gun violence has even taken the lives of innocent children playing on their front porch. This must end. We need young leaders to stand-up and take a stand against gun-violence. We need you."
