Vice Chairwoman Edmonson rejects efforts to privatize JMH’s ER

Vice Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson urged Jackson Memorial Hospital (JMH) officials to not privatize JMH's emergency room and Roxy Bolton Rape Treatment Center at the meeting of the Jackson Memorial Hospital Recovery Board held Sept. 13, 2012 at JMH's Diagnostic Treatment Center N.W. 12 Avenue and 19th Street, Miami.

The Vice Chairwoman said, "When I voted to create the Financial Recovery Board (FRB), the privatization of Jackson Memorial Hospital was not part of my vision for JMH's future. By outsourcing critical components such as the emergency room physicians and other personnel as well as the rape treatment center, the FRB would be privatizing Jackson bit-by-bit and I definitely won't support that. I will speak out against any action to privatize JMH."
