Commissioner Edmonson greets voter Desiline Victor who attended State of the Union

(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson and Commissioner Jean Monestime presented a proclamation to Desiline Victor upon her arrival at Miami International Airport on February 13, 2013 after Ms. Desiline attended the State of the Union address in Washington, D.C. at the invitation of President Barack Obama and the First Lady Michele Obama. Ms. Desiline, who is 102 years old, sat in the President's box and was lauded for having stood on line for more than three hours to cast her ballot in the November 2012 election. Born in Haiti in 1910, she arrived in the United States in 1989 and is a naturalized citizen.
