Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson proudly proclaimed February 28, 2013 as "Councilman Al Davis Day" at a dinner in his honor held at the Miami Shores Country Club, 10000 Biscayne Blvd., Miami Shores. Councilman Davis was toasted by the Miami Shores Chamber of Commerce as "Citizen of the Year" in recognition of his many years of service as councilman and private citizen.
"Today is a special day in the life of Miami Shores history because we are here to honor a man who has had great deal to do with it. You all know Al Davis and if you don’t know Al Davis you just don’t know Miami Shores,” Commissioner Edmonson said. "For many years he has been an integral part of the growth of this Village and, among his many contributions, I am particularly pleased to mention his work as a founder and tireless fundraiser and booster of the Doctors Charter School. Al, you have left your mark on Miami Shores and I suspect you will continue to do so for many years to come. You richly deserve the Chamber’s recognition as “Citizen of the Year.”
