Commissioner Edmonson hosted the 7th annual "Back to School Fun Day and Health & Info Fair"

MIAMI, FL - Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson gave away backpacks and school supplies at her 7th annual Back to School Fun Day and Health & Info Fair held Aug.10, 2013 at the newly refurbished Olinda Park, 2101 N.W. 51 St., Miami.  With the help of donations from various sponsors, Commissioner Edmonson gave away 2,000 backpacks to children on a first-come, first-served basis. Children also received free immunizations from Florida Health Dept. and free haircuts (from?).  Parents and adults had the opportunity to get free health check-ups for glucose, high blood pressure, HIV and others provided by a variety of health concerns. Many Miami-Dade County departments offered information on services and government resources. The children also had a "fun day" which included face painting, raffles, dance contests, bounce houses, free food and drinks.

The Jesse Trice Community Health mobile unit offered free blood pressure testing. The Waste Management Inc. robot encouraged children to recycle.
