Commissioner Edmonson and The Beacon Council sponsor Small Business Workshop
MIAMI, FL – Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson joined forces with The Beacon Council to sponsor a Small Business Workshop on Jan. 28, 2014 at the Joseph M. Caleb Center, 5400 N.W. 22 Ave., Miami with the express purpose of bringing together resources to help local, small businesses grow. The workshop focused on business plan development, funding, and government contracts and attracted 110 local business representatives.
Supporters and participants included Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce, Neighbors and Neighbors Association (NANA), Acción, Miami-Dade Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources, Economic Community Partnership (ECP), Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce of Florida (HACCOF), Hispanic Business Initiative Fund of Florida (HBIF), Miami Dade Defense Alliance (Military), Partners For Self Employment, Inc. , PortMiami FTZ 281, Score-for the life of your business (SCORE), and the University of Miami School of Business.
“It is my desire to see every small business flourish and every resident with a job,” Commissioner Edmonson said. “Small businesses are the spinal cord of our neighborhoods, bringing stability and opportunity for employment to residents. Partnering with the Beacon Council and other entities brings much needed business expertise to these mom and pop businesses which may not otherwise have a way to access these resources.
