Commissioner Edmonson attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly refurbished Dante Fascell Apartments

MIAMI, FL – Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson joined Alberto Milo, Jr., Senior Vice President, Related Urban;  Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez;  City of Miami Mayor Tomás Regalado and Commissioner Wifredo Gort and  Miami-Dade County Public Housing Director Greg Fortner on February 25, 2014 in cutting the ribbon to the newly refurbished Dante Fascell Apartments, 2929 N.W. 18 Ave., in Allapattah in District 3.  The major rehabilitation and upgrade of the 151 existing public housing units with new contemporary design for the senior / disabled residents was made possible by a public-private partnership between Miami-Dade County and Related Urban.

Rehabilitation included the community center, common areas, laundry facility, library with a computer lab, impact resistant windows, new doors, replacement of the air conditioning wall units, landscaping, parking lot resurfacing and a new roof.  Features and amenities include: porcelain tile floors throughout the units, new wood kitchen cabinets with granite counter tops, garbage disposals, marble window sills, cable / TV hook up in each unit and emergency call service in all units.  Creative art elements were incorporated in the facility’s common areas and energy saving features such as water sense certified shower heads and Energy Star kitchen appliances were included.
