Miami FL - Members of the Miami Dade Teen Court gathered May 5, 2014 at the 7th annual Youth Speaking Out Against Violence Conference held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Miami. Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson addressed the young participants and asked them to “improve your decision making and problem solving skills, address issues surrounding violence in your community and develop leadership qualities” to help stem the tide of “senseless violence in our community.”
Miami Dade County Teen Court is an alternative sanctioning program for first-time youthful offenders who agree to allow their peers to determine sentencing instead of the juvenile justice system and is sponsored by Miami Dade Economic Advocacy Trust.
