Commissioner Edmonson was part of the Hampton Village Apartment Complex grand opening

MIAMI, FL – Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson helped to welcome the new Hampton Village Apartments complex to District 3 on June 26, 2014. The units took the place of old and dilapidated apartments located at 2800 N.W. 43 Terrace, Miami, directly adjacent to the Historic Hampton House, currently under reconstruction.  The Hampton Village Apartment Complex is composed of 100 affordable units.

“Two years ago we gathered here to break ground and demolish a complex that was a community eyesore and housed some of our most vulnerable residents. Today we are witnesses to the fruition of a true public-private partnership,” Commissioner Edmonson said in her remarks at the groundbreaking.  “There was a vision of a faithful few, including Dr. Enid Pinkney, to restore and preserve the legacy of the Historic Hampton House. Directly behind the Hampton House, however, was a major blemish in the otherwise thriving community of Brownsville. Partners like Carrfour Supportive Housing and Landmark Development Company, collaborated to develop what you see here today, affordable, up to date apartments, and we applaud their efforts.”
