Vice Chairwoman Edmonson’s statement on police shootings
MIAMI – “I am disheartened and dismayed by the news of two police officers being shot and injured Monday night. We will not allow this kind of violence to cripple our community with fear or stifle our efforts to increase cooperation between the police and the community. Regardless of who the occupants of the vehicle were, senseless violence cannot be tolerated. However, if the perpetrators knew these were police officers, it speaks volumes regarding the need for us to remain vigilant in our anti-violence fight. I would like to thank the community for their aid in identifying these perpetrators and prayers for the injured officers and their families,” said Miami-Dade County Commission Vice Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson.
