(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Local residents are invited to attend Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson’s District 3 Health and Info Fair on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Joseph Caleb Center, 5400 NW 22 Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fair will offer a variety of free health information and medical services for those who attend, including:
• FREE immunizations for children: parents must bring child’s prior immunization records.
• FREE blood pressure, body mass, body fat, carbon monoxide, lead, and glucose screenings; dental hygiene demonstrations for kids.
• FREE health information on anti-tobacco program, heart disease, nutrition, diabetes, hypertension, free cervical cancer screenings, STDs, and HIV.
• FREE information on CRIME WATCH, code enforcement, consumer safety, elderly services, home ownership, foster care/adoptions, water conservation, legal services, car seat safety, employment opportunities, and hospice care.
• FREE assistance to apply for a library card and voting registration
There will also be information on the County’s Gun Bounty Program, which makes it possible for residents to get a $1,000 reward for turning someone in with an illegal gun, with the goal to get weapons and criminals off the streets.
