Scrap Metal Task Force meeting scheduled for July 10
Vice Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson will be attending another meeting of Miami-Dade’s Scrap Metal and Copper Wire Theft Task Force on Tuesday, July 10, 2012. The meeting will be held at the Jessie Trice Headquarters and Community Center, 5607 NW 27th Avenue, at 10 a.m.
The task force was created at the urging of Vice Chairwoman Edmonson to address the growing problem of thieves stealing copper, aluminum, and other metals to sell to scrap metal dealers. The members of the task force make recommendations to the Miami-Dade Commission on enforcing and amending ordinances regulating junk dealers and scrap metal processors. It also educates businesses and the community on the effects of such ordinances. Miami-Dade Police Lt. Denise Bernhard chairs the task force.
