Commissioner Hardemon to honor Wyclef Jean with Key to the County on May 20


MIAMI-DADE – Commissioner Keon Hardemon is honoring three-time Grammy award-winning artist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Wyclef Jean on Saturday, May 20 at 1:30 p.m. by presenting him with the Key to the County during the Chefs of the Caribbean Celebrity Brunch at Caribbean Marketplace, 5925 NE 2nd Ave., Miami, FL 33137.

In celebration of Haitian Heritage Month and in honor of Wyclef, the Chefs of the Caribbean Celebrity Brunch, which will take place from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., will showcase a variety of authentic Caribbean dishes by celebrity chefs. The Key to the County presentation will be held during the brunch by Commissioner Hardemon and other elected officials to recognize Wyclef for his philanthropic, business, and entertainment achievements while celebrating his contributions to the Haitian community.

Wyclef was born in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti before moving to New Jersey at the age of nine. He has kept close ties to the Haitian people and provides aid, consultation, and humanitarian work in his native country. He is an international recording artist, producer, songwriter, composer, and podcast host. His work, both as a solo artist and as a founder and guiding member of the Fugees, has been an impactful pop culture force for over two decades.
