Commissioner Heyman participates in Adopt-a-Park event at Haulover Park

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Sally Heyman, District 4, joined representatives from the Miami-Dade Parks Department, NARS Cosmetics and local volunteers in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the recently landscaped area at Haulover Park.  NARS Cosmetics donated $7,500 to the Miami-Dade Parks Department Foundation to purchase flowering plants and ground cover for Haulover Park, as part of the County's Adopt-A-Park program.

"This is a prime example of public/private partnership in action," said Commissioner Heyman.  "NARS Cosmetics joined forces with local volunteers to benefit the community at large."

Volunteers from LINCS - Local Inclusion Network Collaboratives at the University of Miami-Miller School of Medicine assisted in the planting of the newly purchased flowering plants and ground cover.  LINCS matches people with disabilities with appropriate service opportunities through volunteer organizations.

For more information on this donation or to Adopt-A-Park of your choice, contact Donna Peyton with the Miami-Dade Park Department at 305-755-7804.
