Owners took advantage of FREE spay/neuter services for pets

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Residents of Miami-Dade County took advantage of the free spay and neuter event that took place on December 4, 2011 at Ed Burke Park Recreation Center in the Village of Biscayne Park. Owners were able to bring their dogs and cats for the services at this event which was co-sponsored by Commissioner Sally A. Heyman, the Village of Biscayne Park, Miami-Dade Animal Services Department and the Cat Network. This event was another effort to reduce the homeless population of cats and dogs in the community. Local veterinarians and volunteers donated their time to perform the surgeries throughout the day.

“I appreciate the veterinarians and volunteers for their tireless efforts,” said Commissioner Heyman. “The best action animal lovers can take is to have their pet sterilized to prevent future generations of animals from possibly ending up at a shelter.”
