Commissioner Sally A. Heyman helps kick-off Breast Cancer Awareness month

On September 6, 2012, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Sally A. Heyman, District 4, was joined by Mayor Carlos Gimenez and members of the Board of County Commissioners to recognize the kick-off of Breast Cancer Awareness Month beginning October 1st and the County's campaign for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.  Participating in the presentations were volunteers from both the American Cancer Society and the County as well as breast cancer survivors.

"This is one of many activities held countywide," said Commissioner Heyman.  "Education and fundraising will make the difference in finding a cure."
Commissioner Heyman has been active for over 20 years in breast cancer walks in South Florida.  As part of the annual fundraising campaign, Commissioner Heyman donated an almost five-foot plush bear to raffle at an upcoming commission meeting.
