Commissioner Sally A. Heyman co-sponsors Northeast Dade Adopt-a-Tree Giveaway

MIAMI, FL – Miami-Dade County residents can receive two FREE trees courtesy of Miami-Dade County’s Regulatory and Economic Resources Department, Division of Environmental Resources Management (DERM).  The Adopt-a-Tree Giveaway will take place at the YES Center in North Miami Beach on Sunday, May 19th from 9:00 am - noon. The YES Center is located at 17051 NE 19 Avenue, North Miami Beach.  Approximately 2,700 FREE trees will be available for adoption at this event, and experts will also be onsite to show participants how to properly plant and care for their new trees.  Trees will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis - while supplies last.

“The Adopt-A-Tree event is an opportunity for homeowners to get free trees that will re-shade their yards and green their neighborhoods," said Commissioner Heyman.  Residents are encouraged to bring a cart or wagon with wheels.

Also at this event, the Miami-Dade County Water & Sewer Department will be providing compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) and high efficiency showerheads to the residents who bring to the event their old showerheads and/or their most heavily used regular light bulbs (while supplies last).
