Commissioner Heyman reinstates NE Dade Municipal Advisory Committee
(MIAMI, FL) – The NE Dade Municipal Advisory Committee (NE Dade MAC) has existed for years and has been reinstated to continue gathering information related to remaining in the Unincorporated Municipal Service Area (UMSA), annexation and/or incorporation. A countywide study commissioned last year is due at the end of June 2015 and will be forwarded to all MAC’s in the County, providing comprehensive current information.
Commissioner Heyman is seeking interested citizens who are residents in the NE Dade MAC area to fill a few vacancies in the 11 member body. The NE Dade MAC study area is described as unincorporated properties whose boundaries are: north – NE 215th Street or County Line Road; east – the Florida East Coast Railway along West Dixie Highway; south – the boundaries of the City of North Miami Beach; west – Interstate 95 from NE 215th Street south to Snake Creek Canal.
“Several people have expressed concerns with the representation of the committee members,” said Commissioner Heyman. “I wanted to give those interested in participating an opportunity to sit on the MAC, wherever they live throughout the NE Dade MAC area.”
Those interested in applying should submit a letter of interest providing contact information and insight on their community involvement and their desire to serve. Letters should be received no later than Wednesday, July 1, 2015. The new re-organized NE Dade MAC will officially reconvene in September.
