Commissioner Eileen Higgins to host Farm Share with ConnectFamilias and Miami Parking Authority in Little Havana

MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins, along with ConnectFamilias and the Miami Parking Authority, will host a Farm Share food distribution event on Saturday, October 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at East Lot 1 at Marlins Park, located at 1400 NW 5th Street, Miami, FL 33125.

The Farm Share event will include a walk-through distribution of fruit, vegetables, and fresh foods available for the residents and families of Little Havana. In an effort to reach communities with historically low rates of participation in the Census, representatives from the United States Census Bureau will also be present to inform District 5 residents about the importance of making Miami count. The event is expected to feed over 500 households and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Those who wish to participate must bring their own container or bag.

“We’re so lucky to partner with organizations like Farm Share and ConnectFamilias, who play such a critical role in helping the most vulnerable populations in District 5 like our seniors,” said Commissioner Higgins. “While it may seem like a small step, just one fresh meal can really make a big difference for a family or our senior residents.”
