Commissioner Eileen Higgins and Miami-Dade Parks to host food distribution events in partnership with the Miami Marlins Foundation and Farm Share in Little Havana

MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins, District 5, and the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department are partnering with the Miami Marlins and Farm Share to host three, free food distributions in May. These distributions will take place on May 13, 20, and 27 at Marlins Park.

The food giveaways will include fresh meals and/or nonperishable items, while supplies last. Residents are encouraged to arrive early. All events are organized on a drive-thru, first-come, first-served basis and recipients are required to wear masks, stay in their vehicles, and open their trunks when it’s their turn in line to receive the food.

Residents are advised to note the City of Miami’s city-wide curfew when lining up for food.

“Those recently unemployed and families in low-income communities are facing food insecurity like never before,” said Commissioner Higgins. “I thank the Marlins, Farm Share, and Miami-Dade Parks for their shared commitment to helping families put food on the table during these challenging times.”

All events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and will take place on the east side of Marlins Park at the Humana Lot, located at 1390 NW 5th Street, Miami, Florida 33125. Drivers must enter the lot by heading east on NW 7th Street and then south on NW 14th Avenue.
