Seniors to receive second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Little Havana through partnership between Commissioner Higgins and District 5’s faith community

MIAMI-DADE – Tomorrow, February 26, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins, District 5, along with eight local churches and the Florida Division of Emergency Management, will come together to distribute the second COVID-19 vaccine to the nearly 500 seniors who received their first shot last month in East Little Havana. The vaccination event will take place at the same location, St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 1349 W Flagler Street, Miami, FL 33135, and a media availability will be held at 1:00 p.m.
“The District 5 community has come together once again to ensure that seniors receive their second dose of this life-saving vaccine,” said Commissioner Higgins. “I’m extremely grateful for our community partners who have helped us connect with these residents and make sure they are taken care of throughout the entire vaccination process.”
The event will provide nearly 500 pre-registered seniors with the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine at the state-run site. The vaccination candidates were identified by the following participating churches:
- St. John Bosco Catholic Church
- Gesu Catholic Church
- Holy Comforter Episcopal Church
- Iglesia Bautista Resurreción
- Riverside United Methodist Church
- St. Michaels the Archangel Catholic Church
- Tamiami United Methodist Church
- Wesley Hispanic United Methodist Church
