Miami-Dade Commissioner for District 5, Bruno A. Barreiro presented a grant to Antonio Purriños owner of La Voz de Miami Beach a small Mom & Pop monthly Spanish community newspaper located at 2899 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, on September 12, 2007.   

Purriños has published since 1986.   In 1989 through 1997, the paper took a sabbatical.   However, during the last 10 years, since 1997, the paper has been in business covering monthly news related to Miami Beach.  “We’re proud to be part of the community we cover,” said Purriños.  “Receiving a Mom & Mom grant is an honor as I am a strong supporter of the program.   The Mom & Pop grants assists small businesses as mine compete with bigger ones.  They money will be used to improve my business which at the end will help me cover more community news.”
