Miami-Dade County Commissioners Participate in Three Kings Parade

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Members of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners took part in the 37th annual Three Kings parade held Sunday, January 14 in Little Havana.  Commission Chairman Bruno A. Barreiro, Commission Vice-Chairwoman Barbara Jordan, Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz, Commissioner Rebeca Sosa and Commissioner Carlos Gimenez greeted the crowds as they cruised by in convertibles or walked the route.

Thousands turned out to see decorated floats, high school marching bands and state and local officials as they walked along S.W. 8th Street.  Three men depicting the three kings with camels were the highlight of the event.  This holiday is widely celebrated by Hispanics who believe that the three kings, also known as the Wise Men or Magi, followed a star to Bethlehem which led them to baby Jesus.  (Miami-Dade / Benjamin Thacker)
