(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Bruno A. Barreiro presented the "Key to the County" to several families and individuals who have made significant contributions to Rabbi Alexander S. Gross (RASG) Hebrew Academy.  The event was held at the Parrot Jungle in the city of Miami on January 13. 

Launched in 1947, the RASG Hebrew Academy is the oldest Jewish Day School in the state of Florida.  The Honorees who received the "Key to the County" included professor William and Bernice Schwartz, Dr. Baruch and Robins Jacobs, Dr. Shmuel and Evelyn Katz.  Additionally John Morse, a high school teacher, received the annual Excellence in Education Award and a "Certificate of Appreciation." 

The presentation was part of the 60th Anniversary Diamond Dinner celebration where Sumner Redstone, the executive chairman of the Board for Viacom and CBS delivered the keynote speech and received a "Distinguished Visitor" recognition.  Moreover, Joseph Malovany, an internationally acclaimed cantor for the Fifth Avenue Synagogue in New York, appeared at the gala.
