(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- More than 1,000 children, from all areas of Miami-Dade, participated in a special showing of Bilibambom, an ecology show for children at the Roxy Theater, 1645 SW 107 Avenue, on April 19. The performance was made possible with the sponsorship of Chairman Bruno A. Barreiro (District 5), who provided a $3,000 grant from the District 5 County Services Reserve Funds.
The interactive show included the children's participation as they laughed and danced assisting the Chiquilinas forming a protective team to save the Planet Earth. Together, they compromised to save water and energy, recycle home items, and plant trees around their homes, thus preserving our planet so that it can remain green.
"We are grateful to Chairman Barreiro who made his concern and sensitivity for ecological issues known to the children when he sponsored this event," said show producer Sofía Melean. "The youngest children learned about the importance of helping to save the Earth, with simple things such as conserving water while brushing their teeth or turning the lights and television sets off when they are no longer needed."
Production was choreographed by Chiquilinas, Inc., and cast by William Colmenares, Juan "Machete" Espinoza, Sofia Meleán and Cynthia Salvatierra. Rocio Bastidas was the guest actress.
