Commissioner Rebeca Sosa to host Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Palm Center

A 72-unit elderly housing facility in the District 6 area of Hialeah

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Rebeca Sosa will join Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez, City of Hialeah Mayor Carlos Hernández, members of the Hialeah City Council and the residents of Hialeah at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Palm Center 72-unit elderly housing facility on Thursday, May 24, 2012. Commissioner Sosa allocated $8.5 million of Building Better Communities General Obligation Bonds Fund towards the new multi-purpose building facility that is located in her District 6 area of Hialeah. 

"It is a pleasure to work together with the Mayor Hernandez and the City Council members to bring housing opportunities to our seniors.  Together we are transforming vacant land into attractive new homes that the community can feel proud of," stated Commissioner Sosa.  "We are proud to be part of this important project that will bring critically-needed affordable housing to seniors in Miami-Dade County.  The project reinforces the demand for Housing Funds that support seniors, which in turn help to build local economies."

The project is being built by the City of Hialeah, in partnership with Miami-Dade County.
