MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – In an effort to reach out to the residents of Miami-Dade County and to make the meetings more accessible to them, the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women will hold their next meeting and public forum at The Women’s Park in west Miami-Dade on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 6 p.m. Residents are encouraged to join in and learn more about the Commission’s mission. There will be an opportunity for the attendees to comment at the beginning of the meeting. The Commission is especially interested in hearing from women about their issues and concerns.
The Commission for Women falls within the purview of Miami-Dade’s Office of Community Advocacy, a division under the Office of Chairwoman Rebeca Sosa. The Commission was created in 1971 as an advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners, the County administration and the public at large about issues pertaining to the status of women. The Commission also advocates for women in the community and strives to improve their quality of life.
The Commission for Women meetings are open to the public. For more information, call (305) 375-4967, e-mail Morilla@miamidade.gov or visit the website at www.miamidade.gov/advocacy/ .
